The Sales Excellence Practice

Your sellers have more tools than ever. And fewer habits than ever.

The frameworks that turn missed forecasts, stalled pipelines, and wasted deals into repeatable wins. Built from four decades of carrying the bag, running the org, and sitting in the boardroom.

Powell & Company

The Sales Excellence Practice.

We do not sell training. We build sales organizations that perform. Sales Method is the system Ken Powell built over four decades. Powell & Company is how revenue leaders put it to work inside their teams: education, training, and coaching that move the number.

The Expert

Ken Powell

Four decades carrying the bag, running global sales organizations, and answering to the boardroom. The authority behind the method.

The System

Sales Method

The frameworks that make world-class selling a repeatable habit, not a rare talent. Taught in the Raise the Bar. Step Up. series.

The Practice

Powell & Company

Where the method becomes performance. Education and training upfront, then sustained coaching that makes the habits permanent.

The performance gap is not technological.

It is human.

CRM systems, enablement platforms, and AI tools are multiplying. But win rates, forecast accuracy, and deal velocity are not improving. The profession has been investing in technology while the fundamental disciplines of elite selling have been eroding.

World-class selling is not a talent. It is a set of habits that can be taught, trained, coached, and measured. That is the work of this practice.

Praise
“Ken worked for me at Oracle. What a gift it is to see all the best moves of really good sales people over 20 years, with grounded examples that show clear results, all captured in one place.”
Ray Lane · Former President and COO of Oracle

“What’s in this book isn’t theory, it’s exactly what I watched him do day after day. The habits stuck with me long after I stopped reporting to him.”

Kamal Arafeh · Former President and CEO, eEye Digital Security

“Years before playbooks became common, Ken had already authored a sales methodology and method that we applied with great success. You’ll be learning from a true master.”

Mark Small · Founder, MMC Ventures

“During our Oracle days, we created this massive Cloud business that went from zero to 1 billion in just 18 months. All using your methods.”

Joao Perez · Investor, CEO, Board Member
The Outcomes

What changes when your team steps up.

You are not buying a course. You are investing in a sales organization that performs, and a number you can stand behind.

A forecast you can trust

Pipeline stops being fiction. Tighter qualification and real business cases turn a busy pipeline into closed business, on a close date that is earned, not guessed. Win the deal

Growth in the accounts you cannot afford to lose

Your biggest customers become measurable, compounding growth: more share of wallet, at the best possible margin, year after year. Grow the account

A team that owns the room

Sellers who listen harder, question better, negotiate for mutual value, and carry an executive meeting on a point of view, not a deck. Master the moment

A team that inspects itself

The frameworks become habits. Sellers self-correct without being chased, because what gets inspected gets respected, starting with the seller. Every discipline

Sales Method

One system. Three movements.

The disciplines, frameworks, and skills behind the practice, taught across the Raise the Bar. Step Up. series. Win the deal, grow the account, master the moment.

Master the Moment Book Three · Own the Room Forthcoming
01

Active Listening & High-Yield Questioning

Listen hardest and ask the highest-yield questions, and you control the conversation and shorten the cycle.

02

Probing & Negotiating Skills

Uncover the real interest and trade toward a win-win under one rule that never bends: no unilateral concessions. Give nothing away without getting equal or greater value back, and learn the flip, where the buyer sells you.

03

Emotional Intelligence

Read and respond to emotion to build trust faster and close more. EQ is a learnable sales skill, not a personality trait.

04

Dynamic Sales Scripting

A prepared structure that flexes in real time to the buyer's cues, connecting what you sell to their value and growth.

05

Outcome-Driven Demos

A demo sells when it is built around the outcome the customer confirms before it begins, and orchestrated, not winged: who runs the room, who owns each part, who recaps at every checkpoint. The opposite of a feature tour.

06

Advanced Objection Handling

The hardest objection is not a competitor. It is do nothing. Handle the stalls and the no-decision that kill more deals than price.

07

Selling Without PowerPoint

Teach an idea live, with no slides: a whiteboard, the back of a napkin, a paper placemat, whatever is in front of you. You build more trust and are remembered far longer than the rep clicking through a deck.

08

The C-Suite Briefing

Executives give you minutes, not hours. Prepare and run the high-stakes meeting, and brief your own executives to advance the cause.

09

Presentation Mastery & Executive Presence

How you present and carry yourself decides whether the room believes you. Presence is a set of learnable behaviors, not a gift.

10

High-Impact Networking

Every buyer can name a dozen firms that could do the work. They call the two or three they trust. Become that call on purpose: map who matters, give value without keeping score, and stay in loose touch so the doors you need next year are already open before you need them.

Every discipline is a workshop. 26 of them, plus 7 training camps built around your number.

Three ways in. One path to performance.

Most engagements start on a stage or in a workshop. The ones that change the number stay for the coaching.

01 · Educate

A custom keynote that reframes how your team thinks about winning, built around your market and your number. The front door to the work.

02 · Train

Workshop

Hands-on sessions where your sellers learn the disciplines and apply them to live deals in the room, not in theory. A curriculum of 26 workshops and 7 training camps, tailored to your organization and branded as yours.

Ken Powell
The Expert

Ken Powell

Ken has spent four decades in complex B2B sales, not as an observer but as an operator. He started his sales career at Apple and has sold at every altitude since, from a single territory to global organizations that reported their results to the CEO. He has built, run, and measured strategic accounts at SAP, Halliburton, Oracle, McAfee, and Honeywell, and served as CEO or President of several growth-stage software companies.

The frameworks in Sales Method were not developed in theory. They were built in the field, pressure-tested across industries, and refined over many hundreds of complex B2B deals. The methodology was taught and coached to over a thousand sellers before the book existed.

Ken also brings a perspective most sales advisors do not: he has sat on the other side of the table as a managing director at a middle-market investment bank, advising on M&A transactions and enterprise value creation. He understands what PE firms and boards care about because he has reported to them. Today he leads Powell & Company, home of his Sales Method practice.

SAP
Grew Global Accounts past $1B, ahead of plan and at a higher profit rate than the company.
Oracle
Two tours, a decade at Oracle. Built the playbook for the top Fortune 500 strategic accounts and more than doubled net-new revenue.
Halliburton
Grew Landmark's global software business from roughly $500M to $800M. Brought SaaS to oil and gas.
McAfee
Ran North American sales, a $500M business, and grew it sharply while taking real market share.
Honeywell
Led global sales for Connected Industrial, a $330M business, with double-digit bookings growth and tight forecast accuracy.
Founder & Exit
Founded a SaaS company and sold it to a public software business.
CEO & President
Led growth-stage software companies and took two to profitable exits.
M&A & PE
Managing Director, middle-market investment bank. Advised on M&A and enterprise value creation.
